Analysis of The Jamming Failure of Screw Conveyor
The screw conveyor is very sensitive to the material due to its small space for conveying materials; the material is prone to entanglement when the screw shaft rotates; and the intermediate suspension bearing is easy to block the material. Therefore, clogging is the most common failure of screw conveyors. Lighter clogging will affect the output and increase power consumption. In severe cases, it will burn out the motor, twist the screw shaft, and affect the normal production. There are many reasons for blockage. The following measures can be taken to prevent blockage:
1. Reasonably choose the technical parameters of the screw conveyor, such as the speed of the slow screw conveyor should not be too large.
2. Strictly implement the operating procedures to achieve no-load starting and no-load stopping; ensure continuous and even feeding.
3. Enlarge the discharge port or lengthen the end of the trough to solve the problem of poor discharge or too late to discharge. At the same time, a small anti-rotation blade can be installed at the end of the trough of the discharge port to prevent the end from blocking the material.
4. Necessary cleaning of the materials entering the conveyor to prevent large or fibrous impurities from entering the machine and causing blockage.
5. Reduce the transverse dimension of the intermediate suspension bearing as much as possible to reduce the possibility of material blocking when the material passes through the intermediate bearing.
6. Install silo level device and blockage sensor to realize automatic control and alarm.
7. An anti-blocking valve is opened on the discharge end cover plate. When clogging occurs, due to the accumulation of materials, the anti-blocking door is opened, and the power supply is cut off by the stroke switch.
